a DIY bag is {beautiful}

My very creative and intelligent cousin, Rejoice, celebrated her 20th birthday more than a week ago. She’s a very sweet and giving person and I wanted to make something for her. This is what I came up with.

I bought 2 yards of the cheapest kind of cheese cloth and had it trimmed. I wouldn’t claim this to be a 100% DIY project because after the designing, I went to a local tailor to have the bag sewn, which cost me Php 40 (roughly a dollar).  Wrapped it quick, and gave it to her. She loved it! Yay! 🙂

DIY CHEESE CLOTH BAG

Materials:

1 yard cheese cloth

acrylic paint (green and blue)

paint brush or foam brush

cutting on vinyl stick of desired pattern

How-to:

// Cut the cloth in the desired size. This one was about 12″ x 15″ before sewing.

// Fold the cloth in half on the long side.

// Put your sticker on one side then paint on the pattern. Let dry. Remove sticker.

// To achieve the teal color on this side, mix green paint with amounts of blue paint. Add small amounts of blue paint until your desired shade is achieved.

// You may choose to put button on the eyes of the turtle or add your own embellishments.

// Notice the 3rd “R” from the left on the 3rd row. You will see that the paint blotted outside the sticker pattern. That’s part of the learning process. Don’t be discouraged. Just continue making things and you will get better at it!

// Sew on the sides and sew the bag handles.

// Done 🙂

Amount Spent: less than Php 200 (approx. 4 dollars)

Happy crafting!
